The rise of sensor technology in the recycling industry for materials sorting and quality inspection is mostly motivated by company economics and efficiency of their own processes. However, in a circular economy a chain of companies supporting a supply chain of raw secondary materials will have to work closely together to meet the material demands of end producers in terms of supply and quality. Sensor data can provide real-time and continuous information to match those needs for which the data must be shared.
The main topic and basis for discussions is the question: how can sensor data from waste flows help optimize and economize the full secondary raw materials supply chain from waste collection to recycled product marketing?
